Nuclear Medicine is an imaging study in which radioactive tracers are introduced into the body before a patient is imaged. The information obtained from this scan is utilized to diagnose diseases of the thyroid, bone, kidney, liver, gallbladder, heart and brain. Unlike diagnostic radiology, which is based on anatomy, nuclear medicine documents organ function and structure.
